A thought on product placements

This is not the first product placement I've seen – although it is right up there fighting for the title of the worst – but it made me ask the question: Why are product placements not required to be marked as advertisements the same way that ads on magazines or websites are?

Advertisements on magazines, newspapers and websites are required to be noticeably different from the content. If they are not, they are required to be marked as advertisements. Why is this not the case for product placements in TV shows and movies? I think the same rules should apply.
